The official New Years plan
So its done, after much deliberation, research and soulsearching, the verdict has come in. WE WILL BE SPENDING NEW YEARS AT THE FINNISH BETHEL CHURCH :)
We will have our normal plans for the night. We will watch a movie or two, either make food or then order it, and also have some time in prayer and (maybe even some worship ) I felt that with the responses and the upcoming ski camp, having the New Years at the Church made it most fair to everyone in the way of attending.
So with that said, I figure that we should meet around 8 on sunday night, and be prepared to be picked up around 8 or 9 on Monday morning. We should have a fun night, and i'll try to come up with something a little different for us to do, (at least for some of the time :)
These are the things that you should bring
1. Sleeping bag (if you plan on sleeping)
2. 5 dollars for food and stuff
3. A cheerful attitude and willingness to start the year in prayer and devotion to God
4. Yourself and whoever you can convince to come :)
5. A favorite movie, which is suitable to watch as a youth group :)
God bless all of you and see you on Sunday night

New Years
So me and Marja are hopin that you all had a very merry Christmas :) We did :) Its always a special time of the year, and hopefully all of you guys spent some of Christmas reflecting on Christ and His birth!
But on to business! As most of you know, NEW YEARS is approachin quick!!! And we still have not decided whether we are gonna meet at the Church or all go our separate ways? So the question is being asked!!!!
1. How many of you guys are wantin to spend NEW YEARS at the Church? It would be cool to keep up the tradition of hangin out there for it, but I need to know how many of you are into it? SO THE REQUEST IS THAT YOU POST ON THIS BLOG OR WRITE ME AN EMAIL IF YOU WANT TO MEET AT THE CHURCH. IF I GET ONLY A FEW FEEDBACKS, WE WILL NOT MEET FOR NEW YEARS AND INSTEAD FOCUS ON SPENDING SKI CAMP TOGETHER THE FOLLOWING WEEKEND!!!
I am cool with whatever you guys decide, as always ; Magority rules. I will post on Friday with the results :) The proverbial ball "is in your court" on whether we meet :)
God bless all of you and get back to me on your plans....
-Miika-
ps. Friday will be the cutoff, as arranging something else for New Years will take its own time :)
Wednesday, December 20, 2006
Hey guys
We are still figurin out the total amount raised, but we certainly did raise a substantial amount of money in one day :) We'll have to decide on the purchases as a youth group, but we'll do that in the New Year.
So with that all said, me and Marja really want to wish all of you a blessed Christmas. Remember to use these holidays spending time with God and your loved ones. Christmas is a special time and it should be spent reflecting on Christ and His birth, and on the wonderful plan of Salvation that God put into progress so many years ago...
We truly hope that all of you can enjoy this Christmas like never before!
God bless all of you and see you soon
With love; Miika and Marja
ps. We still have not decided on a plan for New Years. I am willing to do the overnight Church thing, but we need you guys to give us an idea over it or anything else. So please comment on the BLOG over what YOU would like to do for New Years :)

Fundraiser
So its here, our annual fundraiser :) This weekend is gonna great! I've been plannin stuff all week and tomorrow my fetching of "turkey, ham, potatoes, stuffin soup etc...) is beginnin. I'm gonna get everything that I can possibly think of for the Christmas dinner. Its of great importance that you guys all try to show up early on Saturday morning. I'm gonna be there at 8:00 a.m sharp, we will get some coffee goin and just relax for a few minutes. I'm hopin that all of you guys come out and pitch for this weekend. We will all enjoy the things and experiences that this fundraising money will get us, so lets all enjoy some fellowship time making food and working at the Church.
I can't force you to get there super early, but it would be nice to get the major brunt of work out of the way early, so that we won't be all stressed out as dinnertime approaches :)
So thats about it, I was thinkin that it would be cool if we all dressed in black and white (dark and yellow, brown and white, etc) It would give a good effect I think. So with that said, if you have dark pants or dresses and white shirts, please wear them :)
Ok, I think that I covered everything here. Remember to pray for our weekend and remember to spend time with God. I havnt preached enough to you guys of late, and if you come out on Sunday morning. I WILL :)
So have a great week and God bless
-Miika-
ps. As all of you remember, there is no youth this Friday...
Wednesday, December 06, 2006

Hello Peeps,
Okey dokey... so everyone who was at youth last week (that doesn't inlcude me) has recieved a registration form for ski camp from my wonderful girlfriend Liisa. So if you plan on coming please remember to fill out this form and also bring your $20 deposit. Now if you haven't gotten a hold of this form yet, then there will be some available to you this weekend. Bring your deposit this Friday or Sunday and fill out a registration form. Also remember any friends that you would like to bring are always welcome.... but remember that we do have a max capacity limit of 25-30... so first come first served. Once we have all the forms in, we can calculate prices for each individual accordingly to what activities they are taking part in. So remember to register this weekend, cause this is your last opportunity to be a part this awesome long weekend. If you have any questions about anything regarding this ski camp, please get a hold of myself or Liisa. I hope everyone can make it out and I garauntee you this is something you don't want to miss! If anyone is nervouse about skiing or boarding.... don't worry... not everyone is going on the slopes. You can also go snowtubing or just hang out with others in the village or at the cabin. Our food plans are outlined in the registration package.... so no worries there. Also our fund raising will help out to reduce costs for each individual. Alrighty I think that is all I need to get out to you guys for now. So hopefully I will see all of you guys Friday.... Liisa and I are gonna try and make it out after her Christmas concert. I feel like I haven't seen you guys in ages... I have had some really busy weekends. So God bless everyone and I will see you soon.
-Jarno
Just a little reminder!

Yay for this season of fun times and Christmas!! :D :D
So just a gentle reminder... this Sunday we are having our Christmas celebration at church. It is important to be there! Everyone who took the song sheet to "Away in a Manger" should be coming! We should all be there around 4ish so we can practice ahead of time! It will be great times and I know everyone will love Darren's solo! yay! so come out and join the Christmas Spirit! On Friday I will attempt to get to church after my Christmas Concert at school.
I am not making any promices, cuz I really don't know if I can make it to the church before all of you are gone to practice. But I will try! Anyway, please come out. I would really appreciate it!God Bless, Liisa

Yulin with the youth....

Hey guys
So I have a few reminders and things to mention in this edition. I'll address them by numbers.
1. This Friday we will be havin our Christmas party and gift exchange. Remember to bring a gift valued at 5-10$ if you want to participate in our exchange. If its impossible to get the money, then come out and have fun anyways. We'll have some good munchies and fellowship :)
2. So how many chocolates have been sold so far? I sold 2 boxes to Daren :) and am resigned to the fact that i'll just buy the rest :) Hopefully you guys are doin better than me.
3. Remember, Remember, Remember to make sure that you come out and help us for the fundraiser. Its Dec 16th and we'll arrive at the Church at 8:00 a.m to get started!!!
4. I just wanted to compliment some of you youth who were out a week and half ago sortin bottles at the Ahlgrens. I heard that over 200$ was raised, thats phenomenal work and we should all really pitch in and help. If a few youth managed this, imagine what we could do if we all helped?
5. My final point is about the Christmas gift :) We raised 60$ for a needy family in Africa, which we will use to buy 2 hens and a rooster for them. It will supply them with much needed food and income, so great job to all of you guys :)
So thats it for now. We'll be startin at 7:30 on Friday, if any of you want, you could bring out some food to eat. We will bring some stuff, but lets all chip in :)
God bless all of you guys and hopefully we'll see you all on Friday :)

Snow!

Hey Everyone!
Just really excited cuz there's snow everywhere!
I just thought I would put up some pics that I took on Saturday night.. they might not be the best, but I thought I would share the love anyway, lol!
And just a gentle reminder that there will be worship practice on Friday, and try to make it for 6, but it's totally understandable if you're late cuz of the slow traffic.
Enjoy and God Bless!

The big one
So theres a few things that i'm gonna cover in this post! I'll put them all in questions, so that you guys can answer them. Firstly though, remember to start reading your Bibles and preparing for the challenge of reading your Bible from cover to cover in 2007 :) Its gonna take a solid commitment from everyone, but it will greatly enrich your Biblical knowledge and bring you closer to God. It will do nothing but bless you and enrich your life in all kinds of ways :)
Now as I talked about last night, we have some important events coming up for our group. Next week we have a planning night with Kim Rautava over programming for our Christmas fundraiser. Some of you youth already stepped up and offered to play, sing or something in the program. The rest of you, please pray and think about maybe volunteering to do something in the program. No pressures though. We will make things work :)
We will obviously have some time after the planning, so I need to get some movie suggestions. If I don't get any, then I will decide :)
Secondly, remember next week to bring some money if you are planning on contributing to our Youth Christmas gift to a family in need. So far we have 50$ in donations, every little bit helps and this time of year is all about giving.
Thirdly, i'm posting some old pics of you youth :) Its funny and cool to see how you've grown not only physically, but spiritually also. Its honestly a pleasure to spend our Friday nights with you guys. I see so many diverse people with incredible talents and gifts. I am so grateful to God and our Church for giving me the opportunity to begin my ministry with you guys. Remember to study your Bibles, spend time in Prayer and to live your life as an example. If you follow those steps, you WILL claim a blessed life :)
God bless and be strong

Hey guys!

I have my school's choir concert this Friday night unfortunately so I won't be able to make it out to youth. So basically there won't be any worship practice this Friday, sad I know! But nevertheless, we will have worship practice earlier on Sunday morning before the service. If you can make it out, please let me know! I would GREATLY appreciate it!

Hey guys
So we've been away from our "home" for a while, and starting this week. We'll be curin any "Church-home-sickness" that any of you guys have been experiencin. We will be meetin at 7:30 next week at the Church. Jesse will be preaching to us, and I for one am really looking forward to seeing what God has put on his heart. Let's all make an effort to come out and support Him and each other in a fun fellowship filled evening. We have some discussions to hold over "Christmas fundraising dinner" and then some other stuff regarding our "Christmas party" and whether we want to meet for New Years this year. Hopefully all of you can make it out. We have a great group here, and sticking together and growing as a group is very important.
Have a blessed week

Friday, Nov 17th
So we've had a change of plans for the upcoming week again. As you most likely remember we decided to meet at the Church and have Jesse Sorila preach. But that has been pushed back a week. I got a call yesterday from Jenni and she informed me that the "No Boundaries" meeting that we attended last year is happening again at the North Delta Church. I really enjoyed the speaker last year, and since it also had great music, fun games and so on. I think that attending it again this year would be a great idea.
So thats what we will be doing this Friday. I'll post later in the week with the address and time, but remember that YOUTH WILL BE IN NORTH DELTA AGAIN THIS WEEK :)
I hope that you all have a fabulous week and really spend time with God and His Holy word....
God bless
-Miika-
ps. Remember to put your names on the Ski Camp post! Jarno and Liisa are putting a lot of their time into organizing it, and its hard for them to try to find discounts (lift tickets) when they are unsure of whos coming!!!!

Ski Camp in Whistler

I have to give thanks to the Lord cause I have finally gotten a computer!!!!.... so now I can finally post on the blog, use MSN Messenger, e-mail, and all the other goodies. So we are finally seeing snow on the Mountains..... yeah.... woo.... woot.... I'm stoked, anyone else? I have contacted Whistler/Blackcomb to see if we can get a package deal on lift tickets and rentals if needed. They will be contacting me in the next few days. Ssssooooo I really need to know who is planning on seriously coming so I can give them a head count on how many tickets and rentals we plan on needing. Hopefully God will provide us with some awesome deal on tickets just as he has provided us with free lodging at an awesome place (thank you Nick/Family)!! So lets continue to pray for this exciting weekend. So please either respond with a comment here or e-mail me at acura_dragon@hotmail.com. Let me know if you are coming, whether you will be skiing/snowboarding or not (# of days 1or2), and if you will need rentals. Hopefully we can get this rolling now so we can calculate a cost for everyone for food and everything else. Man I'm so excited for this ski camp!! We're gonna have awesome Bible teachings, prayer time, and fellowship/games. I really encourage everyone to make it out. So hope to hear from you guys soon and everyone God bless!!!
*Jarno*
PS: The pic above is actually taken in Whistler village on November 6/06. So they are getting snow!!!

Woo Hoo Snow!!
OOh it's ALmost here!!!!! time for snow and fun times on the mountains! I dunno about you guys, but I am SO excited.. and cold... lol. So we have a great time for all you youth out there. This is a great oppertunity for all of us to get even closer, and to have ALOT of fun. So January 5- the 7th we are going to be going to Whistler! Activities will include snowboarding, skiing, walking around the village, and great fellowship times. There's going to be way more to come, and we'll keep you updated. But for now I need to get an approximate number of people coming so we can figure how much we should fundraise, and also, then we can figure out if we can get any kind of group rates from Whistler itself. So, write a post back if you are in, and if you don't have a membership to the blogger community, then get someone to write down your name, OR tell Jarno or myself all right? Sweet! Sounds like a fun, fun time!Keep Y'all updated!

Fun Fun Times at Metrotown!!

Pumpkins

Hey guys
So it is October, and that usually means a dress-up night and pumpkin carvin contest. We as Christian youth want to distance ourselves completely from any kind of pagan traditions. So we will just meet on Friday (7:30) and have some sweet worship session, I'm gonna speak a little and then we are gonna just hang out, eat, laugh and have fun together :)
I'm hopin that you all will bring your own pumpkins, big or small does not matter. We will be downstairs, and as far as I remember, we DO have knives and stuff for carving.
Hopefully you all can make it
Have a blessed week, and remember to give God some daily time....
ps. It would be awesome if everyone could bring something to munch on. Just so Nick could get a break once in a while, and it would be even greater if everyone posted what they were bringin, so we could have some variety :)
pps. We also have small prizes for best guy costume and girl costume :)

So yeah, thats about it for now. Tomorrow is Church and hopefully all you guys can make it out :)
I'll write back in the week, but remember that next week we are meeting at Mcdonald's in Metrotown for a scavenger hunt planned by some of our youth. So lets all make our schedules work as not to miss it :)

Big Changes :)
So its time to let you all in on a little secret :) Me and Marja are soon going to be blessed with the birth of our first Child :) We've been keepin it a secret for the last few months, and we are finally ready to let everyone know. So there it is, our baby will be born late March or early April, so we have almost 6 more months to go. But nonetheless, we are super excited and neither of us can hardly wait :)
We will continue doing youth work, and even though Marja will not always be attending, I will be committed 100% to youth work still, so there are no changes in that at all! I'll write about the coming Friday later in the week, so check back later in the week :)
God bless all of you

Changin the plans...
So as all of you (who have given me some way of getting ahold of you) know. We will NOT be going to the Qwuanoes meeting tonight. It seemed that pretty much all of the youth, were unanimous in there intent on missing this one. So we will have a week of nothing. Its unfortunate that this worked out like this, but the good in it is that the communication lines are working amongst us :)
By the way, I am gonna have to get all of your contact info, it was a struggle to go through my book and cross off each youth that I knew 100% had heard of the cancellation. And if there are any youth who have not heard, and are gonna wonder why our Group did not show up! I apologize whole-heartedly. We are getting more organized every day, and getting ALL of your contacts is vital.
God bless and be happy
-Miika-
ps. I was called by Lauri Karhinen, he asked for the youth(who volunteered) to try to show up before 11:00 a.m. There is the chairs and tables to organize, so i'll be there early, and hopefully you will also :)

The lost pics...
Sunday morning
So i'm a little unsure over what we should do this coming Friday. I have a sermon in mind (what else is new:) but after and before that, I need some creative ideas. One option would be to start watching those Kent Hovind videos again. I have the new set, and technically starting from the first one could be worthwhile.
Anyways, i'm just throwing this out to you guys in advance, please send me any ideas or bright thoughts if you have any regarding this Friday :)
By the way, Daren sent me a link regarding
http://qwanoes.ca/events/roadtour/ I was thinkin that this could be a cool outing for us as a group. Its not til October 6th though. We will discuss though. Check out the link, and let me know.
God bless and have a safe week. I'll post later in the week
-Miika-
ps. Nina sent me some beauty pics from the Maze :)

Worship this Sunday morning and other such things like jesse in a robe

<--- i think this is one of the best costumes I have seen in sO long... too bad i didn't get the pointy red shoes in the pic as well... :D
I'm stoaked about the corn maze! It'll be sweet... yummy hot dogs & creepy corn fields....
anyway the rest of this "post" goes to the worship team who has been awaiting patiently. i apologize for the lack of communication. i was going to post stuff up on wed, but there was simply no time :(
So since most people are busy on saturday (tommorow) there isn't going to be a worship practice. instead i chose songs that all of us basically know! and we're just gonna basically go up and do it. :) so you probably are going to want to look over the songs tommorow at some point for 20-30 minutes or so to get all those chord progressions and harmonies down!
the song order is the following:
1. Did you feel the mountains tremble (G)
2. Great in Power (C)
3. Holy, Holy, holy ( the old hymn) (C)
4. Better is one day (E)
So far I think that's it. I was thinking of putting "I can only imagine" in there as well.. but I dunno the chords to it yet.
Thanks guys! see you at the corn maze tonight!
God Bless,
Liisa
Corn maze it is...
Its Friday morning, and the weather looks great, so we WILL be goin to the corn maize tonight. We'll be meeting there by 7:30 at the latest. We will bring hotdogs and drinks, if anyone wants to bring some chips or something, feel free to do so.
I'll be at the Church tonight at 7 o'clock to pick up those of you who need rides out there. Please be on time and if you are comin but are gonna be late. CAll me and let me know 778-855-2751
God bless all of you guys and see you tonight :)

Corn maze or else...

Hey guys
I'm tryin to really work out a organization schedule for youth, and I know that I can make a huge difference by doing my bit, so as a result. You are gettin info on a Sunday; 5 days before our meeting :) I called the Corn Maze, and was told that all of the firepits are booked already, but I was also told, that around 8:30 or so, some would free up. So if we plan to meet there at 7:30, then everything should work out. Regardless, we will be meeting somewhere though on Friday. The weather is gonna be a factor, so we decided today, that if the weather is rotten, then we'll be meeting at the Koivumaki's (Jenni and Emma's) for something fun. I'll report back later in the week. I'm gonna post the link to the corn maze also. The prices and other info are on there so remember to look.http://www.cornfieldmaze.com/sites.php?ID=&username=cancloverdale
Check it out, and tell your friends. I'm gonna bring a ton of Hotdogs and stuff, so more Youth the merrierit will be is the hope :)
By the way, I've got a ton of pics from camp, so I figure to post one every time I announce something here. That way theres some visual stimulation along with the incredible joy when you read about our Youth Group :)
God bless all of you and remember to check later in the week to see the final ruling :)

So i saw this picture and thought we should aspire to have a Pringle wall in our basement, for that unique touch we're looking for! lol. Also, when we want to snack on something, what else better to do than to go to the Pringle wall?
Yumm...lol anyway, as I sit in front of the screen and eat my wonderful cereal for breakfast I am reflecting on the awesome service last night. God was totally there and His presence was just awesome!I'm really looking forward to having a worship night soon, it'll be awesome!
So I guess next week it's the corn maze for us all!! yay!!! as far as worship practice goes, we'll probably do it on saturday night. maybe we'll have our first Saturday night worship practice this week! Let me know if you guys can make it. Also, set a post if you want to have practice at someone's house, more central to all of you probably?? again, i'm just thinking about it all so let me know what you think about it... aiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttte????? I'll see all of you tommorow at church!
