I just heard today a great chapel sermon on Psalm 139. The gist of it was this:
Even though God knows everything about us, He still wants to be present with us!
Now, that is love:)
And think about it, you are known by God - your life matters to Him!
LORD, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from afar.
You search out my path and my lying down
and are acquainted with all my ways.
Even before a word is on my tongue,
behold, O LORD, you know it altogether.
You hem me in, behind and before,
and lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
it is high; I cannot attain it.
Also Psalm 139 tells us that God knew us and planned us even before we were born! Wow, talk about God being involved in the details of our lives...
For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from you,when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed substance;in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them.
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
If I would count them, they are more than the sand.
I awake, and I am still with you.
So be encouraged: God knows you, is with you, loves you, and has planned a life for you! You can totally trust your life into His hands...

Taking the dark side seriously
Hi!
Halloween is just around the corner... If there is one festival that I hate, it would be this one. I just can not bring myself to celebrate the dark side. I don't believe everything in Halloween is directly connected to demons, but I do believe most of Halloween is totally contrary to the Kingdom of Light. So yes, you guessed right my family doesn't celebrate Halloween;)
So what to do in this season?
Well of course you can just take a long hike up the mountains and return when it's all over...
OR
Use this time to meet up with friends & celebrate something, but not Halloween as such. And maybe times like these can surface interest in the spiritual dimension of life... So it can give us an opportunity to be freshly aware of the battle we are in and open some other people's eyes to the reality of the spiritual too and the need to get armed for the real battle...
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. (Ephesians 6:10-13)
What about at church?

Giving thanks - to whom?
Hi,
It's soon thanksgiving weekend!
Who should we thank and why?
If all that there is, is just a result of materialistic natural processes, who do we thank?
Mother nature?
Sad to say that is what most post-Christian westerners do... in a way or an other they honour nature as "God".
Idolatry and unbelief are a serious cause of blindness and moral downfall in people's and society's lives. It matters whether you believe in God or not!
The Bible says:
...there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live. But not everyone knows this. Some people are still so accustomed to idols... (1Cor 8:6&7)
Let us be people who have eyes to see and humble hearts to honour Him who alone is to be worshipped and thanked for the precious gift of life and all the good things with it!
This weekend:
Friday Youth Thanksgiving Celebration 7-10pm at Ahlgren's house!
(if you need directions contact Tuula: atomi@dccnet.com , Phone: 604-594-5539)
7-8 feast! (bring something to eat: snacks, salads, deserts etc.)
Hot Topic Discussion: Why believe in God?
Thanksgiving! (in worship & prayers)
Sunday Thanksgiving Combined Service 11am!
Remember all of us youth help serve the thanksgiving dinner after the service
(dress as fitting to the occasion)
See you all in the spirit of true thanksgiving!
