Heroesses...

Todays History of Christianity lecture gave me valuable insight into people/events/movements that lead to the reformation. One of these movements had to do with the mystics (those who emphasized personal spiritual experience and intimacy with Christ). Specially the role of women, whose lives impacted others in great ways because of their purity and devotion. There were three Catherines who lived in the 14th and 15th centuries and lived extraordinary lives. They experienced God in real ways having visions and revelations and a prophetic voice for their time. They were really after intimacy with Christ and the love of God moved them to great works of charity. One of them, Catherine of Genoa, was married at 16 to a ungodly man. She experienced herself a powerful conversion and fully devoted her life to God. Her devotion and purity won her husband to Christ and together they worked to serve the poor. These "Spirit filled" ladies are partly responsible to giving impulses that paved way for the reformation.
God can do mighty things through lives fully devoted to Him!

I want to make my life count more, by letting Christ be my all...
May His Spirit fill me so, that life everlasting may flow.
This world needs the ones and twos, in whom Christ can come through.

(sometimes I get poetic;)

I think the Whistler dates would work for me, although I haven't yet checked.
I won't be at youth tonight either. Also, what time (approx.) would the Dec. 6 thing start?

OK. So it sounds like we have an opportunity to do the winter retreat! That would be so awesome. So yes let's start to plan for that weekend, thx Natalie & your family! And yes Dani, it would mean driving up on Friday afternoon/evening and coming down Sunday not too late...

The Dec 6 Finnish independence Day celebration would be starting around 6pm with food. Continued by discussion on what does Finnishness mean to us and or/Canadianness. Then we'll have the film Tuntematon Sotilas playing for those who can appreciate it (the Finnish language or the english subtitles that dilute the Finnishness somewhat...). For those not going for the film, we can have board cames and fun time! We'll also have to practice some Christmas songs...

See y'all at Church on Sunday!
Samuel
