Mountain experience

It is interesting how many times people in the Bible had significant encounters with God on mountains. Abraham with Isac, Moses receiving the law, Elijah, three disciples with Jesus etc.

It is not that God dwells in a special way in the mountains, but something seems to happen to us as we climb up. Life gets a new perspective and we become more sensitive to the reality of God.

So maybe, this weekend can be a special time for us as we drive up to Whistler. May it be a time of meeting with God and develop a deeper devotion to Him.

it's okay if some people want to go earlier to the mountain, right?

About the waiver form. I called Whistler and they e-mailed a waiver form. But the person double checked with her boss, and told that we don't need waiver forms if we get just one day tickets... here is a quote from her mail:
---------
Hi Samuel,

I have just checked with my manager and she has confirmed that you don't need to get this form signed by the parents if you are just buying single day lift tickets.

Sorry for any confusion.

Kind regards,

Elisa
-------------
But if you still want to do a waiver form, just e-mail me and I can forward the form.

Then about rides. Someone asked about going there earlier. It is fine, if you know how to get there and hopefully go with a full car... I would need to know, who is driving and if some have made already arrangements with rides. Also let me know if you need a ride and don't know how to get one.

Then about costs. The church can help us with the food, but gas is something all the drivers buy and those taking rides with them would do well to share in those costs. I also encourage you to get your ticket from 7-11 before we go. You should save about 15 dollars.

If you have any other questions, feel free to throw them out!

So now it's 10 people who have signed-up:
1. Tanya
2. Nina
3. Marissa
4. Tim
5. Naomi
6. Katriina
7. Danica
8. Natalie
9. Jesse
10. Nico

With this we can just and just make it with available rides:
CAR 1: Nico + 4 people
CAR 2: Tim + 2 people
CAR 3: Samuel + Family + 2 people

The skiing equipment can go on Tim's truck. I will take the food stuff. Bags go wherever they fit... (back of the cars and laps)

So now I need to know is anyone else planning to come? (Elisa are you still planning to come and your friend?). And also, is anyone planning to go on some other ride on Saturday or somehow?

Waiver forms:
Whistler doesn't need any forms, but the church needs. So all under 18 need to get the form and fill it out and bring it on Friday. Tuula kindly e-mailed the form to me and you can get it from me. Just send me an e-mail and I'll forward it to you. (I don't have your e-mails yet...)

Thanks for being active in the blog to sign-up. I'll wait still till tomorrow for any additions or changes and then make the final plans. So if you have any changes to sign-up, do it fast!

looking forward to going up!

Update:

12 have signed up so we are going to have a good size ski-camp!

as of now we have 3 cars to take us up.
Nico + 4 people
Tim + 1
Samuel + 5 (I am not taking my family up now)

Remember to pack light, but take all the necessary stuff to stay warm and sleep well! Include a Bible with you!!! (We'll be looking at Daniel and developing a life devoted to God)

Buy your ticket beforehand at 7-11 and bring some money for gasoline and food on the go (40-50$ should do you fine). If you need rental equipment bring more.

See you all tomorrow 5.30pm at church!
Samuel
