Do you believe in God?

Imagine yourself in the Soviet Union during the communist regime. The government is making a census of their population.
One question in the survey is: do you believe in God?
You know that the government is atheistic wanting to get rid of all religious elements.
They have banned churches and persecuted Christians.
What do you answer?
You don't know how other people will answer.
Will you be singled out and hunted down if you confess your faith?
What do you think happened in USSR?
The communist government was taken by total surprise.
57% of the population answered that they believed in God!
They themselves didn't know that there were so many.
Each of them risked their own lives in saying that they believed in God.

How would you have answered?

What does it mean to you that you believe in God?

When Jesus called people to repent and believe, it wasn't about agreeing that there is a God up there. It was a call for radical devotion. To give highest allegiance to Him. To follow the way of Jesus. Are we willing to lay down our lives for the purpose of following Him? I am inspired by the witness of the "underground church" of the USSR.
