Mission Fest & Ski Camp

Blessings for your year 2010!

Our youth group activities for this year get started with a blast.

First it's MissionFest (http://www.missionsfestvancouver.ca/glance.cfm)
7pm Friday 8th
(we'll meet there 6.30pm to buy tickets and get seats together)
at Italian Cultural Centre just down from Broadway Church
(SkyTrain station at Renfrew will get you real close).
3075 Slocan Street
Vancouver, BC V5M 3E4

Then follows our own Ski Camp 2010!
Jan 15-17th.

We will be doing the skiing/snowboarding at Mt. Baldy
( http://www.skibaldy.com)
& staying nearby at a former church building rented by our friends Justin and his band
(we will be sleeping on the floors, so bring something to make yourself comfortable). They have one shower and boys are advised to shower only once during the trip to prevent the well from drying up. There is a kitchen and Justin's mom is cooking Saturday Dinner!

The program is tentatively this:

Friday
Depart from Vancouver 5pm and arrive at site around 10pm
Evening Camp fire and Hot Dogs
Saturday
Breakfast
Out to the slopes!
Dinner together 5pm
Fun outside/games (the boys have all kinds of crazy stuff at their backyard...)
Evening Service with Justin and his his band (courtyard)
Sunday
Breakfast
Morning Devotion
Fun outside/games
Lunch 1pm
Departure around 2pm

About the costs.
The ticket for Saturday is around 50$CDN but we might get some discount for a larger group.
Lodging is free and food & fuel costs reasonable.

IMPORTANT!
I need final numbers for people coming so if you want to be in,
let me know latest by Monday 11th.
Here is the list of people I think are coming
(have indicated interest or alredy final decision!,
if your situation has changed and you are not coming, let me know ASAP):

Marissa
Emma
Nina
Lydia
Sam
Kevin
Samuel Tedder
Kari Ranta (missionary to Mexico, Bible translators...)
& his three teenage children
(they were asking if Natalie and your brother are coming... stayed in your house sometime ago)

Can you please spread the word and make sure people know what's happening.
Especially the new guys Jeremy, Rob and Mikko might need someone to contact them to let them know about this. Help me out in this, cause I have pretty intense time in finishing my audio course papers before my new term begins next week...

Blessings and see you all this Friday at MissionFest or
at Church on Sunday or
latest at our SkiCamp!

Samuel

that's awesome!
It looks like we have a good size of a group going up this year (9 from our group + missionary family 5 + Justin and his band 4 = 18!). But there is still room for at least 2-4 more people in the van if anyone wants to join in... just let me know.

I'll update the blog soon for details how and what time we are leaving. But delta/surrey/Langley people do not have to come to church, we'll pick you up on the way;)

well well...

I will drive the van. I checked with the rental place what class of licence is needed. If it is not commercial use, the regular class drivers licence is good. I have driven these kinds of vans twice to Mexico. I just hope/pray the roads are in good condition.

I'll update details about the skicamp latest wednesday...

will the van have winter tires?

actually looks like we are taking a 9 passenger SUV now. After Emma called to check on people our numbers went down to 6 going from here + missionary family (5) from the US. So now we would be driving a 4x4!

wouldnt it still be better to go with the van cause we need room for all our stuff.

I've taken that into consideration. If we are 6 going in the SUV (as it most likely is now... when oh when will we learn to signup and commit...) we should have plenty of room at the back. It's a GMC Yukon 9 passenger full size SUV. But I still have the reservation for both on, but have to cancel the other 24hours before. So I'll see what the situation is tomorrow and we'll then take the best fit.
