May Connected Night

Hello all,

It was a nice way to end our Friday night young adults group last week at Natalie's place. Thank you everyone for the wonderful memories and loving words, and thanks again Natalie for hosting us. This group has been a blessing to all our lives for many years, and will continue to be as we shift into more of a home group type.

On to this weeks business. Connected Night is happening this Friday at the church @ 7:00pm. Kids' program will be starting at 7:15pm and as always we could use a hand with helping out. This will be our last Connected Night as we head into the summer and will be restarting again in the fall time. So come on out to make it a big and special Connected Night.

Sunday morning service is @ 11:15am, also don't forget we will start off with a special general meeting regarding our new senior pastor. If you are an official member of the church you also have the right to cast a vote for electing the new senior pastor. If you are not an official member you are still very welcome to attend the meeting and get info on what is happening and who this family is.

Ended it off with a bang

Hey everyone,

So as many of you have heard our young adults ccg is coming to an end. The group will be morphing into a small group style that will be run by the attending members on a rotation. The reason for this is that we will be launching a youth group that will take over the weekly Friday nights.

So we will be having a celebration at Natalie's place to close this chapter off. This Friday night at 7:30pm be there or be square. Bring something to eat or drink to share with everyone and we will have a great time reminiscing about the many years behind us.

Also if you guys have some favourite photos from the years past send them my way... I will put together a  slide show of all the pics I receive so we can all look through them together. So please email me pictures so this can happen. =)

And then of course Sunday morning we are having our service at 11:15am. See you there.

Car Wash Fundraiser

Hey everyone,

The sun is shining! The sun is shining! It actually is shining and for longer than a day. :) Wow, it's so nice to have some nice weather and not have it rain almost everyday. I must say I was getting a little down with the weather. So now that the sun is shining let's move on to our plans for young adults this week.

We will be having our first car wash fundraiser for kid's camp this Saturday at the church. Please arrive around the 10:30am mark and we will get started with washing. We will also have the BBQ set up for selling hotdogs to people when they stop so hotdogs are provided for you as well for lunch. We will not be going for the whole day so we'll be shutting it down sometime in the afternoon.

Hope to see a good amount of us out this Saturday, the funds are really needed to help with keeping the costs down for families for camp, and since we're at Loon Lake which brings our costs significantly higher than last years summer camp.

Also Sunday morning service at the church starts @ 11:15am. Join us for mother's day, we'll have some coffee and other things out before the service and also the kids' have a performance for the mothers before the service. So head over for at 11:00am to take part in the mother's day program.

April's Connected Night

Hello,

Well the Milke boys swooped in to take 1st and 2nd in the Kinect Championships II and 3rd place went to Tim. Well done guys! It was fun having everyone at our place. =)

This Friday is Connected Night at the church @ 7:00pm. The kid's program starts @ 7:15pm, and as usual if you wish to help out with that it is always welcomed and needed. So come on out to spend time together, play some games, and eat some good food.

Sunday morning service @ 11:15am. The services have really been Spirit filled and invigorating to the soul. So come on out to take part of our Sunday morning worship.

Kinect Champion II

Hey everyone,

How's everyone's week been so far? Exams probably going on and all that fun and good stuff. ;)

The weathers sure been a bit of a downer this week. Keeping me indoors and what not. But I thought that since people have exams and weather isn't that great we would have our Kinect Championships II this Friday to help lighten the weeks burdens. We did this last summer and it was a lot of fun. So who's down?

We would have all you guys over at our place for 7:30pm and we'll have random pairings and events drawn from a hat and then go head to head in competition to see who this years champion will be. Last year I believe it was Joshua Milke. There will be great prizes again for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. So come on out and bring something good to eat to share with everyone. Please let me know in the comments section if you can make it so that I can organize things bestest. Thanks everyone.

Let the playoffs begin

Hey everyone,

Hope everyone had a great Easter weekend. It's always great to reflect on the defining events that are central to our Christian faith. Jesus the Son of God and His sacrifice for the whole world's sin. Without Jesus' atoning death we would be pretty hopelessly lost. Praise God for His mercy and grace.

This Friday we will be meeting at Daniel and Jenni's place. The playoffs are kicking off this week and game #2 lands on Friday. So we'll get together for the game and spend time in fellowship also at the Ojanen's place. Be there latest by 7:30pm. Don't forget to bring some snacks or other goodies to share with everyone. ;)

Sunday morning service is @ 11:15am. We have a guest speaker this Sunday so come on out.

Good Friday

Hello everyone,

This weekend is Easter weekend, as I'm sure you guys are all aware of, and young adults is on Good Friday. We will be gathering at our place, Jarno and Liisa's, to reflect and remember what Jesus has done for each and everyone of us on the cross. We'll go through some scripture, discuss, and pray. So that's this Friday night at 7:30pm at our place in S. Burnaby.

Sunday Easter service is at 11:15am and we will have a service first and then move to the dining area to have lunch and take communion together after the service. Come on out to gather as the body of Christ to praise and worship our Lord.

March Connected Night

Hello all,

It was incredible to be a part of Passion Tour last Friday!... awesome to see and hear thousands of young people lifting up the only name worthy of such praise, Jesus! I believe God has something big in store for our beloved city of Vancouver, and we as His church are part of that plan. Remember, the local church is the hope of the world. =)

This Friday night is Connected Night at the church @ 7:00pm. There will be food, games, kid's activities and good friends to hang out with... and everyone is welcome! Also as usual we will be needing a helping hand with the kid's program so if you feel like you want to help it will be greatly appreciated... if you desire details about the kid's program please contact Liisa or Mimmi. Kid's program will be starting at 7:15pm.

Sunday morning service is at the church @ 11:15am, come out to praise and worship God together and to dig into His word... it's wonderful to come together as the body of Christ, His church!

Passion 2012 Vancouver

Hey guys,

So this Friday we are heading out to Roger's Arena to go to Passion 2012. Jenni has contacted you earlier about getting early bird tickets so most of you who are going should have your tickets booked through her... thanks a ton for taking care of that Jenni! So double check with her if you are not sure about your ticket situation. The event starts at 7:30pm and we will be taking the sky train down there and meeting up with everyone outside the Stadium station around 7:00pm.

If you have not booked your ticket and wish to come let me know ASAP, because I think tickets are still available for $15.00.

Refreshed and Rejuvenated

Hello gang,

What a great weekend we just had at the Winter Conference!!... God really out did my expectations once again. His presence there was powerful and definitely touched everyone attending the conference. It's like a blast of fresh air when His Holy Spirit fills you and just rejuvenates your soul and spirit. Thank you God!

This Friday we want to invite you all to our place @ 7:30pm. We will spend some time together in Word and in prayer... and also dig up your testimonies that you have written out. We'll go through a couple of them and give some constructive feedback in a loving way. Also I got some exciting plans for our testimonies that I hope you guys get fired up about as well. So come on out on Friday night and feel free to bring something good to eat or drink for everyone, or even bring a friend. ;)

Friday Night @ Tim and Mimmi's

Hey everyone,

It's half snowing and half raining as I look out my window of my office, it really is a tease... as some of you may know I love snow, so why can't it just snow?? There's so many fun and wonderful things one can do in the snow that one cannot in the rain, I wish Vancouver was more of a wintery city.... anyways.

This Friday young adults will be at Tim and Mimmi's place in Delta/Surrey @ 7:30pm. Tim will be taking care of young adults this Friday because Liisa and I have an orientation at a housing co-op that we need to go to in order to submit an application... however if it doesn't go too late we will come out and join you guys afterwards.

Sunday morning service is at 11:15am at the church (obviously), so we will see you there at the latest then. =)

February Connected Night

Hello all,

Finally a nice sunny day today... I'm starting to look forward to spring time already, can't wait for it to be BBQ weather again!!

This Friday is Connected Night at the church starting at 7:00pm in the basement. There will be food, games, and people to hang out with and have a good time. The kid's program will be starting at 7:10pm and as always we need volunteers to help run that, so if you're able to come help with that it would be most appreciated!

This Sunday is our yearly celebration @ 11:00am in the main sanctuary, there will be coffee and food after the service as well; you can bring sandwiches or a salad to help with the kitchen preps. So come on out to celebrate God and what He is doing in the church.

Natalie's Place this Friday

Hey everyone,

Sorry for getting this post out later this week but I hope you were planning on coming out this Friday anyway. This Friday we will be meeting up at Natalie's place in Whiterock @ 7:30pm. We will get together for a fun time of hanging out, shooting some pool, and stuff. Also bring something for everyone to munch on or to quench their thirst with. We will also take a moment returning to last Friday's topic to keep things moving forward. So see you at Natalie's place on Friday.

Tim and Mimmi's Place

Hey everyone,

Hope the week is going well for everyone.

Friday at Our Place

Hello everyone,

Wow it is refreshing to have a nice sunny day today!! Really helps your mental state of getting up and out of the house in the morning eh?

I must say that I'm so thankful to God how His presence has been so powerful at our Sunday morning meetings! I'm really excited to see all that He has in store for our church and our young adults group. Keep praying that His will may come to pass in our lives!!

So this Friday night let's meet up at our home @ 7:30pm. Besides hanging out and having a good time we will go into discussion about how our lives as disciples of Jesus should have an impact on the people in our lives. And more specifically we will talk about how our personal testimony has a huge impact on letting people know that God exists, and that He has good intentions towards us. So please try to make it out this Friday because I think this can be very beneficial to building our own faith and also the faith of the church. Also bring something good eat and share with group if you can. =)

This Sunday morning service @ 11:15am is communion, and we will be having a meal together as usual. So come on out for that as well.

January Connected Night

Hello all,

Last week was great, we met up at Nina's new place in Langley... I must say they have a nice new home! Thanks again to the Heiskanens for having us over. We had a good time hanging out and we took a quick recap of ski camp and then went into a discussion about making disciples, in other words evangelism. I was also the only male at Nina's place so men... step it up. ;)

This Friday we are having our January Connected Night here at the church staring @ 7:00pm. Come on out to spend time in fellowship with the rest of the church, and as always there is a kid's program starting at 7:10pm; we are always in need of volunteer help for that so if you have it on your heart we appreciate your help.

Sunday morning service is @ 11:15am as usual, so come on out. It's exciting times, God is really moving in the church and things are happening... praise the Lord!!

Out to Langley for a skate

Hey everyone,

So looks like winter weather has finally hit us here in the lower mainland... about time. I just wish we actually saw more snow on this side of the bridge, we'll see.

Anyways this Friday we are heading out to Langley to get together at Nina's place for 7:30pm. Nina has moved so if you do not know where her new place is either contact Nina or myself for the address. We'll take a look at some scripture, discuss, and spend time in prayer besides the usual hanging out and having a good time. Bring something to snack on for everyone if you can. =)

Then later in the night Sam has invited us all out to go ice skating at the Langley Sportsplex arena. Admission is free but if you need to rent it will be $5. There will be food and other things going on as well. This all starts at 10:30pm at the arena. I going to have to dig up my skates and see if they still fit... keeping my fingers crossed.

Sunday morning church is at 11:15am as usual. So see you there as well.

Back to the Norm

Hey guys,

Ski camp 2012 has come and gone... and I must say I had a great time!! Thanks everyone for coming and I feel so blessed to have been able to spend the weekend with everyone and share awesome moments in discussion, teaching, prayer, and just hanging out and having a good time. It's now back to the norm of things. The holidays have come and gone... the new year is here and school and work schedules are in full swing again. Life as we know it... but remember what we talked about during ski camp about being an everyday disciple and what that means. Living life with Jesus. God bless you all in 2012 and all the days to come.

So this Friday we'll take a break from the norm of having a discussion/teaching meeting to a more relaxed outing type of get together. How does a movie night sound? Who's in and what do people want to see? I wouldn't mind seeing Warhorse (78% rating on Rotten Tomatoes) since most people have probably seen TinTin, Sherlock Holmes, and Mission Impossible(I've seen this one). Or then the other choice since everyone had a spending heavy weekend we could get together at someone's house to watch a film. What do you guys think? Post in the comments section and let's get this thing on the move.

Ski Camp 2012

Hello all,

Happy new year to everyone! It's 2012 and the we're all still here, so on with life we go.

This weekend as most of you already know is our Whistler Ski Camp 2012 trip. We will be leaving this Friday and coming back on Sunday. Our accommodations will be near the lower part of the village at Whistler Creekside. Room is limited and we are almost at max capacity already, but if you haven't let me know that you are interested yet, do so and I'll see if we can squeeze you in. The cost for the weekend will be $50 and that includes food, gas, and of course the accommodation for the weekend, note that if you plan on skiing a lift ticket is not included in this weekend cost. Also we need people to drive up so we can fit everyone into a car, so far myself and Sam are driving so if you are able to drive let me know asap... like today. =)

Other than all this what you NEED to bring is sleeping bag/blanket, pillow, air mattress/foamy(there won't be a bed for everyone), and towel. So I hope your as excited for this weekend as I am, it's going to be great to spend time with God as group this weekend and to be up enjoying the playground of Whistler.
